Suzanne Garber

The 4th annual Teal Tea will be held May 2, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, Route 1, Princeton, NJ. Tickets are on sale now for $55 per person ($65 at the door).  The Teal Tea Foundation raises funds for research to cure ovarian cancer and raise awareness.

Suzanne Garber, Chief Operating Officer, Americas Region for International SOS America, will be the key-note speaker.  Garber was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in her early thirties, and is excited to share her story. She wants women to know that ovarian cancer, while a silent killer, doesn’t have to be. There are signs that every woman can pay attention to in order to reduce her risks. And, despite what the “profile” is of an ovarian cancer victim, we are all at risk. It taught her to appreciate the here and now, the beauty that surrounds each of us every day, and to live life to the fullest.  Garber was named one of South Florida’s International Business Women of the Year by Latin Trade magazine. As an active “LifeChanger” with Global Action, she has volunteered at orphanages around the world.
The deadline for placing an ad in the Teal Tea program book is March 15, 2010. Donations are also needed for the silent auction. The foundation is seeking items such as wine, candles, frames, jewelry, art work, antiques, and gift cards. For more information, please contact Jean Shipos at njtealtea@aol.com or at 267-994-7430 . If you would like to honor someone at the Tea, or if you are a survivor or are currently battling ovarian cancer and would like to say a few words, please email or call Ms. Shipos.

In 2008, the foundation donated $18,000 to the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition (NOCC). In November 2008, the foundation joined the Mercer Regional Chamber of Commerce. It also expanded its partnership with the Cancer Institute of New Jersey (CINJ) and donated more $12,000 in 2009.
